The Earthquakes and Aftershocks exhibition is comprised of a selection of 64 silk-screened posters from the California Institute of the Arts Graphic Design Poster Archive. These specimens represent a small sampling of over 1000 posters made by CalArts graphic design students in order to announce talks, performances, and other events from the 1980s to the present. The original impetus behind this exhibition was to show students at École des Beaux-Arts de Rennes a body of work that had developed over time in an art school abroad, that is, another pedagogical context and a different cultural and social environment.
